A phrase is a section of music (typically made up of several bars) containing a single musical idea.
Often lasting 8, 16, or 32 beats, a phrase is identified by the fact that its idea repeats or changes (as in the boundary between a chorus and verse or a build-up and a drop).
DJs use phrases to time transitions so that musical changes happen naturally and predictably.
